Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc. Because of its copper content, scrap brass is worth much more than iron or aluminium. It comes regularly from plumbing renovations, fixture replacements and turning workshops.
We collect your brass scrap from your address and weigh clean and mixed brass separately. For workshops we take turnings in their sacks and set up regular collections.
What determines the scrap brass price?
The brass price moves with copper. On the same day, cleanliness makes the difference: taps and valves with iron spindles, plastic handles, seals or chrome plating are valued as "mixed brass" at a lower price. Removing these parts puts the brass into the "clean brass" grade.
With turnings, oil and moisture affect the price; we recommend storing them dry and covered.

Taps, mixers and valves; fittings, nipples and elbows; door handles, locks and hinges; brass radiators; brass pipe and rod; turning and milling swarf; brass castings and mixed brass scrap.
Sorting brass
You can use a magnet to separate brass from copper and chrome-plated parts: brass is not magnetic. Send photos of parts you are unsure about and we will grade them together.
Who do we buy brass from?
Plumbers, fixture and valve dealers, turning and CNC workshops, heating and gas installers, and private customers renovating their homes. For workshops we set up weekly or monthly collection and leave lidded drums or sacks for turnings.
